DING 2014: “We have been unable to find any certain information about him beyond a list of his publications. He may be the George Frederick Northall born in Birmingham in 1862 and who is recorded as living in Erdington in the Census for 1911. He was a frequent contributor to the English Dialect Society and the English Dialect Dictionary. In this latter work he is listed as a correspondent and living at Erdington. His monograph on Warwickshire speech is the most important source for this dialect in the nineteenth century. He is well remembered today for his work on English Folklore.”
