DING 2021: "Born in Polperro, Co. He was the father of Dr. Thomas Quiller-Couch (1826-1884)  and the grandfather of  Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch (1863-1944) . He was a physician, antiquarian and naturalist. He attended a boarding school at Lansallos, Co.,  and Pelynt, Co. Later he continued his studies at the Grammar School at Bodmin, Co.  In 1803 he became a pupil with Mr. John Rice, a medical practitioner at East Looe and later with Mr Lawrence of Liskeard.  Five years afterwards he entered the united schools of Guy's and St. Thomas's hospitals in London. He became a medicine doctor and returned to Polperro where he remained to the end of his days. He was a fellow of the Linnean Society, a member of the Devon and Cornwall Natural History Society, of the Royal Geological Society of Cornwall, of the Natural History and Antiquarian Society of Penzance, of the Zoological Society, etc., etc. His son edited and published his ms on the history of Polperro. Some of the stories in it would be later used by Louise Sarah Ann Parr His contribution to Cornish dialectology is just his 1854  paper in Notes and Queries" (Sep. 2: 178) entitled "Words and Phrases common at Polperro in Cornwall but not usual elsewhere" which was the basis for his son Thomas Quiller-Couch's word lists."
