THE SALAMANCA CORPUS:

DIGITAL ARCHIVE OF ENGLISH DIALECT TEXTS

YORKSHIRE

DING 2015:This is an article on Yorkshire in general that contains some information about Yorkshire vocabulary and some samples of Yorkshire literary dialect. Amongst them is the song included in the EDD bibliography as "Wensley Dale Lad's First Visit to Leeds. Apparently the song was initially printed as a Lancashire broadside c 1800 (see further http://www.yorkshirefolksong.net)." In Science in the Nineteenth Century (http://www.sciper.org/browse/CM1-9.html) this article is attributed to  a Coke Richardson about whom we have found no more information, apart from the fact that he wrote other articles for the Cornhill Magazine."
