DING 2021: "Poet born in Bradford, Yks., he later lived in Waterside, nr. Girlington, and other neighbouring places. He was apprenticed for six years as a woolsorter, and was also a comber. In later years he owned a pub. He wrote dialect poems and did dialect readings. His first dialect poems were published in the Bradford Observer . His first dialect poem was "Poll Blossom, or t' Folly o' Pride" (1854). He continued to contribute to different newspapers and periodicals throughout his life."
